All-Star Black Ops

What if your thought were acted out in every sport...let's take the Lion's share of athletes who try to qualify for the Olympics....I mean...they need a last place too...and those people would love to say yes to getting to be an olympian...IMO...terrible idea...product watered down....in this country..it is ok to strive to be at the top....money earners...sports stars....we as a society are getting so set on EVERYTHING being "fair". I want it to be fair...if you have the same amount of talent...you get the same skills...you work as hard....then you too can go to World's...stop the feel good socialism mindset of everybody "deserves" something....we don't get what we WISH for..we get what we WORK for...period.

I am aware of that Andrew....it is just a judgement call that gyms make for different reasons...and it's their right to make that call....I prefer there to be less at large bids given...a bid (any bid) should be much more difficult to get...IMO...I mean 23rd place in sm coed getting a bid at NCA (2011)....what does that accomplish?

Depends on how many teams they were competing against that already had PAID and at large bids. If you have a paid bid, why go to competitions that are offering bid? Because you want to compete against the best. Not every team can be a Cali or a Top Gun, if it weren't for those "23rd place" teams going for that at large bid, there wouldn't be as many Paid bids either, which brings us back to what this thread was really about, teams like Black Ops not going to worlds because they didn't get a Paid bid.

Most teams (that I know of) set their schedules at the beginning of the season, X, Y, and Z competitions (or more) are your chances to get a bid. Some say they have to be paid bids some say any bid.

this thread veered off to at large conversation...none of my comments were in regards to black ops....I have gone to Worlds both ways....next to last one and done.....and second day two with a globe....my point is that everyone is NOT entitled to go and experience Worlds...we all would love to experience the Olympics or the super bowl....black ops is an amazing team and whatever happened with them is between the gym and them....for the sake of the at large discussion...I stand by my point

I would like to clarify the Black Ops team status from Cali Livermore. Black Ops although quite talented will not attend worlds without a PAID bid. This is very disappointing to everyone on the team but with that said, the team knew early on that they must have a paid bid to attend Worlds. As far as the team being dissolved...that is completely false. We attend Cali Livermore and recently a meeting was held to clarify all the rumors and concerns. We are looking forward to watching this gym grow in Livermore. There are many talented athletes from our level 1 to our level 5. Black Ops is an amazing team and we enjoy watching them perform.

It is true that some kids have been asked to perform on other teams that will be attending worlds. I cannot confirm who has been asked, I just know that a couple of flyers and of coarse a few of our awesome tumblers have been asked but their decisions are unknown at this time. I know one girl has said no but there are still some kids who might go. You have to understand that Livermore Cali is far from any other Cali gym therefore making that drive would be quite the commitment and some of these kids have no way to get there. I would love to see this team go to Worlds, we have so many performers on this team. There are a lot of broken hearts on this team and in our gym. All we can do is focus on our next comp in Anaheim and continue to give them 100% of our support.

For Livermore to be producing a level 5 team so soon after opening I think says a lot, and those kids should be proud of what they have accomplished. The Livermore gym is in Northern California, so essentially it is a totally new gym for CA in unknown territory. I think many people would be happy to have the success they have had, and their time will come.

regardless of what happened this year the fact that livermore now holds a level 5 team is stellar when i was part of the gym (3 years ago?) i never thought it would be possible for the gym to house a team like this but they did it and blew me outta that water love this gym <3

I know there are way too many at large bids in the AG small senior 5. But, I know some teams just have the goal of going to worlds to see what it is all about. They won't even make it to Saturday, but they're willing to spend the money for the experience so that one day they will get there on a paid, they won't be overwhelmed.

I wonder if maybe the fact that people can actually make it to cheerleading's world championships "for the experience" tarnishes the credibility of the sport. Gymnasts can't go to the olympics "for the experience", the Patriots don't go to the Superbowl "for the experience". There seriously needs to be a standard set here for teams wishing to attend Worlds, but I doubt my faith in the cheerleading industry will survive long enough to see that happen.
Anyways, it's a shame Black Ops isn't going, they had a good shot at top 10 for sure, but better luck next year I guess
