Us Jersey girls are headed to Texas for week 3 of Supercamp this year. Any tips for a first timer? She's never done a camp before without a gaggle of cheer buddies, I think she's worried about being alone and friendless.

I wouldn't worry about making friends. There will be plenty of "cheer buddies" for her to meet at the camp. It will be fun.

@BlueCat just today I saw a tweet that looks like a warning to a gym about a mom heading their way after making off with a substantial amount of money collected from parents at her gym from this past season while acting as Team Mom.

I am not sure how team moms work at CA but from past experience at other gyms it seems to me they are working with and representing the gym in collecting money to pay for competition goody bags, special bows or clothing items just for their team etc. in this scenario I am guessing money was collected for things that never happened.

As an owner what are your thoughts on whether gyms hold any liability to recover stolen money or to compensate the families and go back after the offending party or as long as the families account with the gym is settled up it doesn't matter?

Do gym owners ever warn each other about families that owe money?

Does that explanation make sense to you?

We will post new teams after the calls have been made. We are incredibly excited for the new athletes and new teams. We will definitely have new teams in new divisions.

Each gym has had by far their highest tryout numbers ever (20%+ increase in each location) so team placements are taking a LONG time. Good problem to have.
That's awesome. I can't wait to hear the new teams/divisions. :)

What divisions does CA not have teams in at this point. I mean I wouldn't be made if they had more then one team in a division though

We try to limit how much the teams spend on "goodie" items, so there shouldn't be a HUGE amount of money involved, but I guess anything is possible. We try to only allow people to be team reps who we know and trust, which also helps. I'm not sure what we would do in that exact situation that is described, however. It would depend on the details.

Some gyms do warn others about families that owe a significant amount of money, but it can sometimes be tough to know who to believe.

We will likely have most of the divisions covered. I don't think that we have two teams in the exact same division at the same gym yet, but we will have some division overlap between gyms. (Plano may have same division as Charlotte, for example)

I treated my granddaughter to the SuperCAmp two years ago. We flew in from Florida. She went without friends and within the first few hours she "hooked up" with a group from Arkansas and they hung together the whole camp. They also were staying at the hotel that was suggested on the Camp Flyer. (I recommend the hotel without reservation. Very convenient to the gym, has a shuttle to the gym if you want to use the service, and includes breakfast, dinner and a nice pool).

I found the CA staff and coaches very professional and friendly. I arranged a private tumbling lesson which my granddaughter, who was a level 5, said she learned some great tips. Great experience and well worth the money.

@BlueCat any thoughts as to why they would put Cheersport and NCA on back to back weekends? I looked at the Dallas Convention Center calendar and there is nothing posted for its usual weekend of February 28. Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere.

I have no answer but at least they aren't the same weekend as they were several years back haha. That would be hard for a lot of families/gyms that do both though.

@luv2cheer92 I had no idea they once fell on the same weekend. We've been doing this for four years and they have been consistently falling on the same weekends, I assumed it was because a bigger event took its place but, nothing is on the calendar. The business geek in me is dying to know why because, it truly doesn't make sense from the $$$ standpoint.

Dear Truancy Officer,

On February 12, 2016 my child came down with a rare disease contracted at the GWCC and we had to fly immediately to Dallas to see a cheerbola specialist. I forgot my doctor's note but, I found this rubber shoe tag that might be able to serve as proof of location....:oops:

No idea. You would have to ask the Varsity folks.

I know y'all are in need of new cat names.. I have been waiting for y'all to have a team named "Sphinx" !!

I think that'd be a fun name (especially for like one of the new international coed divisions if y'all field one of those) and the music could have Egyptian themes and sounds! And you could play on how "hot" they are cause Sphinx are from the desert idk LOL
