I wouldn't accept no for an answer on a mri or cat scan- your child is way too important. But, with that being said- go to an independent imaging place- not the hospital. The price difference here is about $2,000I asked about an MRI or cat scan, but was told no. Yes, we are extra careful to make sure she always gets lots of water. On her tumble class day & on days when girls are missing and the end up just focusing on tumbling the migraines aren't usually an issue.
When I get them really bad, I go to the Chiropractor, I usually walk out with it gone

I am so sorry the TAKS will do that- I teach in Texas, unless the budget get cut more How old is your daughterI will look into that. Her longest one lasted 26 hours. With the exception of going to the restroom & me forcing her to drink some liquids, she was curled up in a ball on her bed, with the lights off for 26 hours straight. When she gets them she wants it dark & quiet. That is the worst one she has ever had. It came on right after having to sit still at her desk for TAKS (state testing in Texas) for the second day in a row. They take the reading & math test back to back.
So far, I have seen 2 different Doctors. They both said they feel they are genetic and have tried different preventative medicines from anti depressants to raise serotonin levels (even though she is a happy child with the exceptions of the migraines) to depakote (a seizure medicine known to help prevent migraines). I keep coming back to her complaints about them starting in her neck. We keep a food and activity journal. When she side bases for long periods of times , she always leaves with a severe migraine. But, as said has also gotten them on non cheer days. I will definitely keep trying to find her help and relief from her pain.
That fourth grade test this year was intense. My daughters going into 5th this year too. Where in Texas do you live? She is 8, but will turn 9 in August. She just finished 4th grade & is going into 5th grade. She said bending her neck down at the desk for that long made her neck hurt & then it turned into the worst migraine she has ever had. Blurry vision, vomiting, physically drained, etc.
I am really glad that her school teachers & her cheer Coach are so understanding & willing to work with us around her migraine issues. I don't want it to make her put her life on hold.
That's awesome. My daughter was commended in writing and reading and a 93 in math. Next year with the new test nobody really knows what to expect I know where Bryan is, we are in New Braunfels- half way between SA and AustinI live in the small town of Bryan, Texas. She made a 100 on the Math TAKS & also scored high on Reading & Writing, but the migraine that followed was scary.
We are with J&R Gymnastics, have friends at pinnacle though.Which gym are you with, maybe we will be at the same comps?Yes, STARR will be here! They are making budget cuts, but spending millions to develop a new test!! UGH!!! I love New Braunfels. Are you with Pinnacle? That is the only team I am familar with that is close by (one in San Marcos & San Antonio).
