Most of our CA Plano friends stay at the omni. We have never stayed at a hotel for Dallas, Denton or Ft Worth (but I think I'm in the minority).Dumb question but do Dallas area teams stay in hotels for NCA? I would think no, but then again I think it would be really weird to just go home after nationals and come again the next morning. Seems like it wouldn't feel like nationals and it would be harder to keep the teams focused when they could just go hang out with friends after day 1. Maybe it's only weird to me bc I've never lived close enough to a big competition to worry about that.

THIS. This is what kills me about the youth and parents today. So many parents do not know how to teach their child to lose gracefully, they don't know how to teach their child it is OK to lose.
They need to understand and take the lesson from losing; even when you do your best, sometimes, just sometimes that's not enough, it's a learning experience, it gives you motivation to work harder. When parents don't do this, don't teach children to learn from losing, or lose gracefully, that's when children start to feel entitled and start acting like selfish brats (that is seen too often in ALL sports today, not just cheer)
So sorry you and your daughter had to witness this, I hope your daughter is truly able to enjoy her win and her jacket!

Exactly my point, your daughters team is the key example; she lost last year, you did the right thing, let her cry and consoled her, but then she learned from the experience and came back and won! This is what has to be done! That's just ridiculous. It is just as important to lose as it is to win. Last year was my daughters first time at NCA and she came in second day 2. It was devastating. I pulled her outside in a corner where no one could see her and let her cry. I myself was fighting back the tears. I let her get it all out and then told her wipe her face, be proud and continue to work hard. I told her " your time will come". Her team came back this year and WON. That jacket could have been made out of burlap and she would have been just as excited. It is what it signifies. Knocking someone else down to try to build your child up does nothing for them. Except it will help make them spoiled brats with a false sense of entitlement who blame everyone else for their short comings.
Please don't bite me for posting this but I just want to start an discussion.
Do you the teams that don't have to plane travel to competitions have an advantage over other teams? Purely saying this because in 6/10 Sr L5 and 6 divisions the winner hailed from Texas. (Woodlands Elite Generals, SOT A-Team, SOT Royalty, CA Panthers, CA Claw 6 and CA Ladykatz)
Other division winners were from further out - Florida, California and Kentucky.
Or is it just because Texas is the state of cheerleading haha!
I'm sure you could make an argument that being local helps. However, Worlds is in Florida, but Texas has won more than twice as many medals as any other state. (California is 2nd)
We never stayed in a hotel for NCA. I live about 25ish minutes away from Dallas and my team usually took the DART train there and back then just went home after the comp.Dumb question but do Dallas area teams stay in hotels for NCA? Katie is on Cali Coed, she's the blonde that tumbles down the center in the beginning of the routine, then does toe full, 21 to double, and a 1 1/2 to double. The point flyer has been on coed for 2 yrs. Tori is on Io5@OneIntenseMama ? Her CP is on Cali's IOC5 I believe. Unless we aren't thinking of the same person.
You should say the crazy amazing blonde that tumbles..Katie is on Cali Coed, she's the blonde that tumbles down the center in the beginning of the routine, then does toe full, 21 to double, and a 1 1/2 to double. The point flyer has been on coed for 2 yrs. Tori is on Io5
It's not that no one cares...it's just that there were hundreds of teams competing that weekend. Unless you'd gone from last to first, no one was going to make a big deal of it. Don't get me wrong, it's still a huge accomplishment and you should feel proud.Okay time for my little rant here:
My team went on early day 2 because we had an awful first day. Understandably, the only person awake for our performance was cheerupdates. We ended up jumping 12 spots in small senior, even with mistakes day 2. We got no recognition for that huge jump in a packed divison. I am annoyed that no one seems to care about us, other then people within our program. Maybe I sound like a huge, whiny baby, but at this point, I don't care.
