I didn't realize that if your over a b cup you should just not participate in cheerleading.....it's sad what this sport has come to....I will always advocate for the health of young teens and sports bras are a must. Sorry but it's true..

Don't feel sorry about speaking the truth! As a young teen, I always wear a bra or two when I am practicing and competing. I am a C cup, but thankfully our uniform is pretty bra friendly. (Off the shoulder but I just tuck my strap under the sleeve)

then dont get involved in the sport, if you seem to find the uniforms your children (?) might have to wear in the future will be detrimental to their health.
So you really think my kid should have to quit cheer leading because she cannot wear a supportive bra with the "uniforms" gyms are choosing? That is frankly ridiculous. A sports uniform should accommodate the necessary undergarments, period.

Good for you! CP has a similar uniform. One shoulder is a strap we can tuck a bra strap under.

I agree it's ridiculous! Uniforms are just to look uniform, I don't understand the backless craze! You could have your team in a black top with just the logo and a black skirt and it would still be a "uniform" technically. (and better than some of the monstrosities in this thread lol)
-ALL UNIFORM DESIGNERS BRAS ARE NECESSARY-

Hey all! As the coach of TG Angels and designer of the new uniform, I appreciate the fact that we all have a difference of opinion... what kind of world would it be if we all thought the same about everything that happens? I will say that the uniforms are definitely more impressive when you see them in person, but I can let you all be the judge of that when/if you ever get to see them in person.

The vision I had was that I really wanted the wings on the back to be the statement piece of the uniform. Ideally, I wanted them to wear big huge angel wings (kind of like what you would see at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show), but obviously that isn't practical & the girls wouldn't be able to do a routine with big ole wings like that on their back. So the next best option was making the back almost a full piece so that the wings would cover the entire back. Originally I thought it would just be normal white fabric with the wings sublimated on it. But instead GK came back with the back being all white mesh on the first prototype. When I first saw it not on anyone, I was very hesitant about the mesh. But once we put it on one of our athletes, I thought it looked really cool because it looked like the wings were almost tattooed on the back. Again, I realize some people don't like that look & you're entitled to your opinions, but our staff really liked it and so did I, so we decided to keep it.

Practicality was a HUGE factor when designing this uniform because I knew we were taking a risk with the back of the uniform since nothing like that has ever been done before. Although I really wanted to do a different uniform with an element that has never been done before, my main priority was making sure the Angels felt comfortable in it. It seems many of you aren't aware of the many bra options out there for women, but for our bustier girls, they have a bra they can wear (kind of like a sticky bra) that is only on the front and not the back... but most of the girls say that a bra isn't necessary because of how well GK knows how to fit a uniform to a body (if any of you watch gymnastics, GK is the number one leotard provider for gymnasts, and gymnasts do not wear bras with their leotards... so GK knows how to make a uniform fit well without the need of a bra). .. And the reason behind the skort is simply the fact that all of our girls say that a skort is the most comfortable to wear (or else I would have probably made this a skirt instead. But I'm a guy and don't know what either feels like so I just went with what the girls liked). The girls will be wearing white spandex shorts specially made for the uniform underneath the skort to prevent any see-through issues.

Bottom line, the TG Angels love their uniform and they say its extremely comfortable (even more so than their previous uniform) so thats what matters most. Again, I appreciate everyone's different opinions (although I do appreciate the people who like the uniform a little more than those that don't hahaha ;-)) but I felt the need to explain myself so that you all can have a better understanding of the process in getting this uniform done.

Have a great day and good luck to everyone competing at NCA!

~Chris
Thanks, Chris! I am looking forward to seeing these in person this weekend. Good luck to Angels this weekend!!

Totally not a uniform but I completely love CA Charlotte RoyalCats practice wear for NCA. I also really love how cost effective it was. We already had the tops from the start of the season but the team mom took them back and added to them and the boys brought in black shorts they all already owned (you can't see the ca logo she added on the left pant leg in this pic) and she blinged out capris the girls brought in (and most of them already owned black capris) so these are functional, beautiful and affordable.

And for the bra brigade, we have some gifted girls and they can wear a second sportsbra under this (they wear two as standard all the time anyway) with no issue.

Best team mom ever [emoji7]

These are really pretty! im really liking the capris in alot of teams practicewear this year.

Maybe i missed it somewhere but what does TYORR stand for?

Bras as a massive issue. The only way I managed to get away with wearing a supportive bra was to paint the straps of my bra with foundation then powder them so they blended in with my skin. I much prefer my first all star one wear it was completely open shouldered but we all wore a racer back black bra and it was so comfy

I think parents need to voice their opinions about this. I would! When my CP starts getting boobs, if she can't wear a proper sportsbra with her uniform then I WILL say something and I would probably switch gyms over it if I can't have my way.

Risk concussion or broken bones? Sure, it comes with the sport. But risk breast damage? No thanks, it's unnecessary.

How I feel about the bra debate in February.

I think TG Angels have a gorgeous uniform. The concept is beautiful. The thought process was quite interesting. But fr, don't "mansplain" the bra or bra options to a bunch of women. I found that portion of the post condescending and flat out unrealistic. I also lowkey found the part about VS wings being part of the train of thought to be one of the things that contribute to the hyper sexualization of this sport and the people that participate it....but that was with me putting on my super-duper feminist glasses and reading it. Let me stress that I fully understand that wasn't the intent

Anyway. If y'all (no one specifically, in a broad sense since this is an across the board issue at many gyms) want to tear breast tissue, fine whatever. Do you. Parents, If you want to co-sign these coaches.... Then by all means continue.

This is beating an incredibly dead horse. As long as my girls keep standing at attention, that's all I truly have time to care about TBH.

wow.... I have smh over some of your posts. This one is no exception.
I like the uniform. Im sorry that you dont, but thats your decision, not mine.
If the kids and parents of top gun like them, then people just need to learn to deal. Its their money to spend. I doubt programs are looking for fierceboard approval, since people tear apart about 90% of uniforms in this thread. If your not apart of the program, its not affecting your life.

You posted that people shouldn't get involved in the sport. That is entirely different than what you just said here.

if you have a hatred for a uniform that much then yes, dont sign yourself up for it. Find another team, or something i dont know. The angels uniform really isnt that bad, so i dont understand the uproar in it.

The issue is that unless and until we as parents step up and say that it isn't acceptable gyms will continue to design these uniforms and put kids long term health at risk. It isn't about hatred of a uniform. It isn't about throwing shade at a program. It's about the long term health and well being of our children, and I think we have a right to speak up about it. It's easy to say "not your gym, doesn't effect you" except for the fact that big name programs set the expectation for others. People are going to follow what they do.

Honestly, it isn't really even about a single uniform, but about a pervasive attitude in the industry. This was just one example. Coaches, many of them male, just don't believe that not being able to wear a bra is a legitimate problem because they don't understand the damage girls are doing to their body every time that they jump or tumble without one. Damage that is not going away and can lead to health complications and corrective surgery down the road. Clearly, this coach doesn't get it. He thinks 'stick on bras" are an acceptable alternative to a supportive sports bra and that gymnasts don't wear bras so cheer leaders don't need to either. He is clearly uneducated about the needs for female athletes in high impact sports, yet is the one making the decision to go with a uniform that doesn't meet those needs. Until coaches know better they cannot do better by our kids.
