All-Star Scorpion - Stretching Back?

Okay so let's face it - I am SO unflexible. I took a season out and my back will NOT bend any more. I can't scorpion, scale, nothing.
I really would like quite a decent scorpion in a month or two - and with the determination I will get it.
I really don't want to hurt myself though, and when I pull up my leg, the bottom of my back really hurts. Anything I can do to relieve/stretch my back to help this?
Also, my shoulder flexibility isn't the best. How could I improve this on my own? I know how to to it in partners, but I won't always have somebody at home to help.

I have that same problem! I havent taken a break though. I stretch every night and really try to pul my scorp up high but i always get told it looks like a circle...any different stretching techniques than debbys?
