My junior year of high school I was on 4 teams (granted 1 was just a normal hs sideline squad, but 3 were competition.) I was in the gym all the time, in the best shape of my life and progressing tumbling faster than ever before. That December I tore up my knee, that can't be a coincidence. There is a limit of what the body can handle and that is different for everyone. My biggest advice to anyone (athlete, coach or parent) in that situation is to listen to your/your childs body. Its ok to have a day off here and there, otherwise they'll have a lot of days off and miss out on everything they worked for!

This is so crazy to me. I'm not a parent, nor do I really spend time around parents of youth sport participants, but I cannot believe that those are the deciding factors. I hope that people will realize soon that this pattern isn't influencing anyone positively lol
I had a little girl pee her pants once because her mother told her she would pull her if she wasted practice time in the bathroom. The girl was 7. Poor little thing. I felt so bad.

That's one of the most horrible things I've ever heard! And I thought the parent that expected her kid to practice with 101 fever was bad!

I don't think it did at all. It may have drifted from the actual Teal Reveal to the issue of crossing over to one or more teams, but there is no anti-CEA sentiment going on here.

Neither do I, but I feel like in nearly every thread about CEA it always turns into a sandbagging conversation or there is mention of sandbagging.

And I also don't like that people being on 2 or more teams is automatically obviously sandbagging and these gyms are completely shady.

Edit - Oh and I don't drink the Teal Kool Aid by the way. Just take a couple sips once in a while.

I can honestly say that I have never encountered anyone that crazy. The worst was a high school mom who insisted on her daughter practicing (4 hour pre-camp summer practice) with confirmed mono. Nope. Go home.

In her defense, I don't believe this mom had ever encountered mono before and was confused as to why she could not practice. Ma'am, it was probably all she could do to get out of bed today.

i cannot explain the athletes on more than one worlds team or the level 5s on 3s or 2s. but, if i understood correctly, should you choose not to crossover at CEA, you will be placed on your primary age group team only. like the youngest age group you can be on. so if you opt not to crossover, you could turn 15 on September 1st and only be on Junior Elite, and thats not okay with a lot of people since worlds is the end all, be all. it's just the culture of the gym. not my favorite, but also not against the rules. but the chances of burnout and injury triple with every extra team, IMO.

So you're saying if an athlete made lady elite and junior elite hypothetically ... And they didn't want to do two teams...they would be on jr instead of the worlds team?

Sorry I'm confused

Yes because that would be her age appropriate team. Many gyms handle double teaming this way. My cp's gym does.
