Just watched an elderly woman doing laps on her bicycle in a parking lot while wearing a bright yellow coat, pink patterned leggings with red shorts over them and wearing green rubber rain boots. Quite the fashion sense she has. Was great to see her smiling as she zipped passed me a couple of time.

Carry on.

Not just women. Men too. I think one of the hardest things for me and what leaves me disillusioned about my career is the amount of cattiness and pettiness from people at work. I always thought that life after college would be free from it. Adults acting like adults. Since I was 24, I've always supervised people old enough to be my parent or grandparent. That's what happens when working for libraries where you need education to advance and not (just ) experience. Every day of my life since I was offered my first professional librarian job has been high school....but with old people.

That must be so weird.

I had someone from work text me at like 8:30 to see if i could work for her at 12 when i already work till 12 today. And hers is a six hour shift. Not about to work for 7 and a half hours. And then she just texted me again asking if i could work from 3-6. I have a research proposal due tomorrow that determines whether or not I graduate and a four page paper due friday morning at 8. I dont have time to work for three extra hours today as bad as that sounds. Especially with a three hours break between ending work and starting again. And then I have sorority stuff tonight so I cant even work on it all night.

I just posted this on the 18+ random thread but I don't care I'm so excited... here's how close I got to Pope Francis today!

ok i got more questions for restaurant people, will i have to know the oz /fl oz. for each ingredient in the dish (im guessing not...) also are menu test usually set up like a combination of multiple choice, matching etc.
i cant really imagine everything (75+) items being fill in the blank, tbh. this is a brand new concept restaurant so i have really nothing to go by. Im going based off what ive looked up, and im thinking it will look more like a carrabba's menu test looks like. (its the most extensive one ive found),
*ive tagged the people that helped me early* thank you guys for the help.

I wouldn't study the oz's for each ingredient. Oz's of protein I would know though. 10 oz Filet, etc.... OG, Our test's were not a combination of questions. (And we have had to do multiple test's in the 3 year's we've been open for menu changes). It was either all multiple choice, matching or fill in the blank's. You're going to do great!!!

My menu tests were all multiple choice and we just had to really know sizes of steaks and chicken, not of every meal, mainly just meats!

Granted it's been about 20 years since I've been a server, but I can't imagine you'd need to know the precise measurements of the ingredients in each dish. Every place I worked at wanted the servers to have a good working knowledge of the menu and ingredients, no one expected you to know everything.

Is she really desperate for a fill-in, or is she just assuming that you'll fill in for her whenever? That research proposal is the most important thing.

It was just a one time thing because she was sick. Its just so hard to find someone to fill in for a six hour shift the day of during college which is why I hate the longer shifts.
