I see what you are saying. I don't think the Superbowl invited her per se. I think Coldplay invited her to play with them. And I don't think the Superbowl stopped leting popstars perfform because Katy Perry did it last year and Madonna a few before that. I don't think Janet's performance affected who they invite to play for the most part. Beyonce doesn't need the Super Bowl to invite her back. I don't think not being asked back is even an issue to her. She's proven the past few years that she's going to do what she wants and how she wants to and doesn't care who has what to say about it.

As for it being the "right place" - depends what type of person you ask. I think people who are interested in empowering the black community and want more visibilty, I think they'd argue it was the perfect place. She reached millions of people in a millisecond. Beyonce didn't perform that song for white people. She performed it to reach out to the black community and for her it was the perfect place for her to do so. The outfits and dance might have been in honor of the BPP, but the lyrics are very much about empowering black people to overcome oppression and to learn to accept themselves for who they are. Beyonce's a smart gal, she knew exactly what she was doing and what the reaction would be. I can't, for one minute, believe she didn't see this coming.

The bold is basically all anyone really needs to know about that song and that performance. It's a nod to black culture. It's a nod to black southern culture. Everyone ain't black and everybody ain't black and southern. It's a nod to black person that has been made fun of because of their "bell pepper nose". It's a nod to everyone who has felt the need to not wear their "black" hair. That song ain't for everyone and that is OKAY. Everything can't be for everyone. Everybody isn't for everyone.

Beyoncé is also at the point where she doesn't have to worry about selling albums to everyone.

But for the record. If you've been following Beyoncé and making note about what she "cares" about none of this is shocking

But also. Fingers crossed teams don't try to put this song into their mix. Because once again while anyone can enjoy the song....the song still ain't for everyone.

(And yes, I meant to use "ain't")

Random question. Does anyone know if there's a list of high schools by state that competed at UCA this weekend? I was looking for a list of North Carolina high schools who were there.

It's okay! I'm guessssssing your happened to be the girl with the personalized/handmade/etsy/cute/whatever you'd like to call it Lilo and Stitch Mickey Ears and the infinity backpack in line for the Buzz Lightyear ride

haha no unfortunately that wasn't me but that chick sounds awesome. I had sparkly ears :)

I don't think so? I'd look on the UCA website at the results of the NC regionals. I believe you can see who qualified, so that should be able to help you narrow it down a bit, although not all of them may have competed at nationals.

I'm full of the random questions today. Anyone have a mac with Microsoft Office? I had it in school but now I got a new computer. Is the only Office they offer now this yearly subscription stuff? Like this: Microsoft Office 365 Personal (1-year Subscription; 1 License) - Apple

I don't really want to pay annually forever. I just want to pay a flat fee now and get the office products (really just Word, Excel, maybe PowerPoint) Anyone advice?

I don't know of a comprehensive list but I know that Davie County and Ledford competed.

Edit: I found more....

Forbush, Cox Mill, Cardinal Gibbons, and Northeastern as well. That seems to be it.

I think Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac is a one time purchase, no? (I'd check the reviews on that first though). Or see if you can find an older version like 2011. Or just use Google docs forever[emoji14]
I, too, dislike how everything is moving towards being subscription based. Adobe did it with their programs and it's so annoying.

My school provides Office now, but only until graduation. I suck at formatting in google docs, so editing resumes and things like that should be fun.

Side note, I know people on here have said they'd look over resumes. Anyone remember who they are?

@Eyes On The Prize is right; Microsoft Office Home/Student is a one time purchase. I'd recommend that over Office 365- I got a free copy of that from my school and it crashes 9 times out of 10. It very rarely works on the first try. But that could be because my laptop is almost 7 years old now.
Can I get the student version without a school e-mail?
