There are a lot of kids getting shingles nowadays whereas it used to be something you only heard about adults getting. It's weird though that your youngest got it because it is related to the chicken pox shot and having the live virus in your system from the vaccination even though you never actually contracted the virus. You just have a special kid I guess!
Lol when I took her to her primary dr for her follow-up after the ER diagnosis, even he didn't believe us. He was like, "OK. So you... THINK... You have *shingles*" (said with a bunch of emphasis and eye rolling. He does the exam and said, "Well I'll be d@mned. You have shingles! I thought for sure you were crazy, but this is most definitely shingles." She missed close to a month of school for it.

Special is not the word I'd use... [emoji15]

My youngest got shingles when she was 3 and it was awful. I am convinced it was due to the chicken pox vaccine and her doctor has not negated that. I have not let her get the booster vaccines. I do question some of these newer vaccines so I can understand (not necessarily agree) why some parents, especially those who have children with autism, blame vaccines for medical issues.

It has been on my bucket list since I was a little kid to attend a swimming event at the Olympics. Since I will be in my (early) 50s in 2024, it seems like a perfect time  ;).

I've always wanted to go to the gymnastics, swimming and Track events (I'd want to see Usain Bolt if he's in Rio) so I've been passively saving for Rio...Rio just isn't a place I ever wanted to visit.

If Boston get it, it'd be perfect except I would have children by then.

I saw it for the first time when I was working in Early Intervention about 10-15 years ago. One of my kids had it (he was about 2.) We were in shock. I have no doubt it was because he had the vaccine and then exposed to another kid who actually had chicken pox.
I used to be very involved in research about autism and vaccines back in graduate school, and my feeling always was while that for a select subset it may have been a trigger, there were likely 50 other things that would have triggered the onset as well. I can understand the reluctance though by parents if they already have another child on the spectrum. What I cannot understand is how Jenny McCarthy was adopted as a such a rabid spokesperson for the "no vaccine" cause and how suddenly one day her son was cured. And now apparently he never had autism at all.

That's what grandparents are for. Dump them with your mom for a few days and come up to Boston!

Us too! He is a rescue, and was abused in his "passed life" so it makes us love him even more! He is scared of everything...we had a UPS driver come into our driveway, so of course he ran out to see what was going on...when the guy noticed the dog he jumped back because he's scared of dogs, when our dog saw him jump he got scared and ran in the house! I tell everyone, he is more scared of you then you are of him. lol
