You don't follow the rules, you should be disqualified!! Plain and simple! They have been involved with Worlds for several years now, and should known better! Language barrier my @$$?? If there was a question about rules, and not understanding them, they have translators for that exact reason!! They tried to pull a fast one and now it's being questioned!! Give the trophy to the deserving team--that followed the rules!!!

Here's "no more than twelve" in Thai: ไม่เกินสิบสอง

Here's "limitless" in Thai: ไร้พรมแดน

I think we can see where the mistake was made.

My assumption would be to someone who can read Thai those two words look completely different to them just like "no more than twelve" and "limitless" look completely different to us written in English...

why is this just now being addressed? why wasnt this decision or this rule brought to light during judging? (not saying this with an attitude i really am curious.)

I agree. Worlds 2011 is done. I can totally understand if they got deducted or DQ during the prelims/finals. But after they went through prelims, and nothing was said to them, and then crowned World Champs with GT, then I feel as though it's not their problem.

My thoughts about this whole ordeal:

-Sketchy.

-Definitely a disadvantage to the teams that played by the rules.

-I do have confirmation that Texas took home bronze, So Bangkok did get the "feel good" gold... or "honorary" as you called it.

-Random thought: What if at worlds, you were not allowed to wear uniforms, names or be announced as your gym/country in any way until awards. Anonymous cheer!!! Do you think the results would be the same?

-I guess Im the only one who cracks up that bangkok did their pyramid to "Shots".

The GymTyme coaches were discussing this Sunday night. I am glad that an international team was finally able to step to an American team, especially the when the team consist of majority of UofL Large Coed, but its simply not fair that because we feel bad taking away their world championship that nothing is done. I compare this to the college team that had their title stripped at NCA this year, what if Boggs felt bad taking away their national title because they had someone compete who wasnt in school. Not okay, when schools like UofL, HPU, etc are checked thoroughly thru all cracks to make sure we are all in school. I had to provide 3 diferent varifications that I was in school. Soo all in all, I think its ridiculous that this team can break the rules. When teams have kids that are too old for a senior team competing with them they are disqualified correct. So what if F5 had a 21 year old on the team and because they havent won in years we decide to let it pass. WHY EVEN HAVE RULES!

i have no clue how true this is but i heard that they were told that they had too many boys on the floor and there coach asked what the deduction would be and when they told them they just said well take the deduction becuase well win anyway.

now i have NO CLUE if any of that was said. i didnt believe it at all when i heard it but after reading this maybe some part of it maybe true. not too sure though.

I thought Thailand was awesome and one of the highlights of the weekend. I was impressed with how they've improved in the other areas of the score sheet besides pyramid. BUT I still don't understand the tie with Gymtyme and a globe? IMO they were just not there yet. Other teams were penalized with big legalities after Day One performances for elements that passed legality in warmups yet 3 extra boys on the mat slips by? I'm not really interested in whether Thailand intentionaly broke the rules. I am however interested in whether the USASF made a decision at some point to let it slide. That is wrong and is unfair to every team who took the hits this past weekend. Loved, loved Thailand but they should have done exhibition performance on Sunday once it was determined the rules were broken.

I am pretty sure I am the only one that noticed. As I walked into the warmup room and saw 3 international teams with 14-16 boys. And asked a bunch of USASF rules people (who are, mind you, NOT in charge of that part and not responsible to enforce it). I think from there the info spread. I think the competition company then realized what had happened. A friend asked me, what were they to do at that point? I responded, enforce the rules.

You were NOT the only person that noticed. I know for a fact as we discussed this several times over the weekend.

In the Worlds Recap vid for Day 2, Justin Carrier says something about Bangkok's illegality deductions in a general way. Does that refer to pyramid things or could it refer to the number of boys on the floor also? Would the team be disqualified completely, if the rules were enforced, or would they just get deductions for the extra boys?

If the rule was enforced would it be a title strip and a year ban from usasf / worlds events?

I wasn't aware of the situation. I was thrilled for them when their score was announced after prelims, and happy for them when they were announced tied for gold. I was incredibly impressed with GT's sportsmanship, and maybe even more impressed now considering that they knew they had an illegal squad. Knowing they potentially knowingly competed with an illegal squad does change how I feel about them winning though. I still respect and am in awe of the stunting skills they threw. It was incredible to watch, and the crowd just added to the excitement. However, if they knew they had too many guys and basically told USASF that they weren't going to change that, the title should be stripped.

If the rule was enforced would it be a title strip and a year ban from usasf / worlds events?

According to the rules this would apply:
Eligible Athletes, Substitutions and Alternates:
If a team is found to have made an improper substitution or alter- nate, this team will:
•Be disqualified.
•Be responsible for repaying the total cost of any
funds received through a “Paid” or “Partial Paid”
bid.
•Not be eligible for any type of bid to The
Cheerleading or Dance Worlds for the
following year.
