All-Star Amazing Level 2 Teams?

I am so confused by this thread. I've read thru all the posts and need some clarification. The innuendos drive me crazy. So were there 2 teams that "sandbagged" a division as you all say and athletes who lost to a "sandbagging" team calling them out as cheaters at awards?

Who did what?

Good summary.

I don't know which team called them out, but basically you have the gist of it

I also want to make a general comment about this thread. Two gyms have been specifically called out for their actions. Lots of discussion on both sides. Admins have allowed it to remain open.

Keep that in mind when it happens to other gyms and don't be so quick to close the thread.

I don't care if what they did was legal, what they did was wrong. Sure those athletes shouldn't have done what they did by pointing and calling them cheaters, but just like people who stand up for those who celebrate early, it was the heat of the moment. I can't say I blame them because I probably would have done the same thing. Sure that makes me sound horrible, but I am truly disgusted by what was done. It makes it hard to ever cheer for the gym ever again. It's ok though because they are the ones that are going to have to deal with the backlash of their "experience".
LOL, I had to seriously bite my tongue (hard) every time I walked by a person with Rockstar apparel today. And I am way past old enough to know better than to behave like that. I can easily forgive a junior-age athlete who is in a very emotional situation, with 'filters' not as well developed as ours....as long as they weren't told to do it, by an adult.

I'm still confused by the whole thread. What level did these teams supposedly drop from? Or did they just have some higher level athletes on the lower level teams?

I am more than a little confused right now. Sandbagging and what Rockstar did is so very very wrong on many different levels but suggesting we should look the other way when little kids point and yell cheaters is wrong too. Loosing gracefully is one of the skills I really hope my child leaves with when she is done with her cheer years. Under the worst of circumstances it is not ok to yell cheater or be a poor sport.

Of course it's not Cheercurl! We can agree on that.

But, in the heat of the moment, I can still understand where kids would show their displeasure about the situation. It happens and sometimes I can even understand why. Doesn't make it right.

The one team was created for the NCA experience with kids from higher levels (including a kid on a worlds team) and proceeded to win both Cheersport and NCA. I have no idea about the other.

the Rockstar team was put together in late December of athleted from levels 2,3,4 and 1 girl from Killers.

I know exactly where you are coming from on this. I would hope discussions like this would not result in a thread being locked down - just because of the name of the programs involved. The best policing of the sport starts with the participants themselves.

But it's meaningless if you don't use the issue to drive a change.

Definitely not right to finger point, but do understand the frustrations.

I don't have a dog in this fight, an I am (inside) screaming "cheaters" and pointing my finger. I just feel for those other athletes.

What is sad is now the door is open so to speak. I wouldn't be surprised to see additional teams trying this next year, though maybe being a bit less obvious about it.

Thank you! So a gym (that I assume is Rockstar) created a team specifically for the NCA Experience (aka to win a jacket) primarily with with higher level athletes. Hmmmm......not sure how I feel about that. I will say gyms will utilize athletes from other teams within the gym to fill out some lower level teams so those athletes do get to be part of a full team. But to just totally sandbag (meaning the majority of the athletes) to win is just pathetic IN MY OPINION. To me that's not a win. I would rather go up against a really good team who pushes me to do my best.

That been said, in no way does it make it right for an athlete to point at another and call them a cheater. I realize these kids are upset, but I would be so upset with my daughter if she ever behaved like that. She can certainly say that to me in private but that's just lowering yourself to their level.

If there is a coach from either of these gyms on the Fierceboard and would like to clarify and/or defend their actions, please come on here and do so.

There are multiple posts from the coaches/owners, earlier in this thread.
