If International teams went to The Summit in other divisions and age groups, then parents would also have to make the trip for the young ones. It would become really expensive .

How does lodging work, especially with the paid bids? I note that the paid bid pays for a quad room, but with the ages of many of the athletes who will be attending, I can't see too many parents letting their younger ones stay in a room without an adult (or them, for that matter). Do you just pay for the fourth person based on the fee schedule and have a chaperone/parent stay in there?

I'd also like to know how many teams will attend especially since I just found out that The Summit and the 3 out of the 7 US Finals events are on the same weekend.

Each athlete is paid 510 the amount for a quad- if that athlete is staying in a parents room solo then they pay the difference in cost- If 2 parents want to stay in a room with their cheerleaders then those parents would pay 510 each to stay in room. No matter how its configured each paid athlete only gets 510.00.

Varsity All Star will be selecting teams to take the climb to The Summit by offering bids at their existing World Bid Events and at least eight other two-day events. An anticipated 450 partial paid and at large bids will be offered throughout the 2012-2013 season. The Level Grand Champions from the 2012 International All Levels Championship have already received partial paid bids to defend their titles in 2013.

Looks like no fully paid bids only partial.........:(

Worlds paid bid is airfare too..........

A full paid bid was only 650.00 given per athlete so after registration, which included room and disney passes.

The cost for a quad was $534 at the allstar and $648 for the caribbean. So airfare had to be paid by the athlete or through fundraising

Like anything offered in a first year, there are opinions, there are kinks that need to be worked out, there are gyms that need to decide what they want to do. Just judging from what I know, I just feel like all-star cheer is starting to just be the battle of who can write more checks. However, a lot of squads travel to more then 1 competition per year and have airfare, so I understand how this does affect the more cost efficent gyms, however, the ones that already go to the big comps will continue to participate!

With a "full bid' did U have to stay on site, or could U go to more reasonable hotel? We got at large and stayed in houses/hotels.

^^that I dont know, but I have done it both ways and I like not having the kids at the Allstar

I like the idea of something that is Bid Oppty for non-worlds teams, but having the two so close together (Worlds/Summit) going to an expensive place like Disney will be a challenge if you cross-over (or have two CP, one old enough to be on a Worlds team). When we went to UCA this year and Worlds just 6 weeks later-that was expensive-no matter how much you get in bid money there is still food, souvenirs, etc. Plus time out of school. For the CP in elementary school-it is not too bad, but in HS you can only miss so many classes a semester, then the teacher can fail you for the class.
