All-Star Cheerleaders Season 3?

I think this is an important issue because as I been reading many Fierce Board threads in the past... We had many of threads on this topic and I distinctly remember an earlier post that asked, if your child wanted to move for a Worlds Ring would you let them and seeing this situation with Gabi, maybe the trend will be to wait until the child can Super Senior (finish HS) or even be on the Worlds level 6 teams. I think, this scenario tells me that a child needs more than just premiere Worlds team and possibly a Family life is more important...

Score:
Premiere Worlds Team = 0 Traditional Family Life=1

Actually Premiere Worlds Team= 2 (years).
She is not the first, but definitely the first to be profiled on a web show!
I think she accomplished what she wanted to do with Cali and is now ready to go home. Simple as that!!

Bucky O'Leary flew to Top Gun prior to 2008...leaving his family and sister at World Cup. He invented cheer commuting.
Oh and Apple...
These boys were flying or moving for teams while Gabi was still on mini 1.

Bucky O'Leary graduated from high school in NJ and finished his senior year on World Cup Odyssey in 2006. He cheered for TGLC as a super senior in 2007.

I can't imagine getting a Worlds ring was why she chose to cheer for SMOED. The team she would have most probably been on if she stayed with Top Gun went on to win Worlds for two consecutive seasons. There was no foresight that they would win, but there was no guarantee SMOED would win either. My guess (and I know it's not always healthy to speculate about other people's decision) is that she felt that a smaller-sized team (or simply a particular coaching style) would have been more beneficial to her growth as a cheerleader.

If I remember correctly Gabi had worked with Orby previously so she knew him... And I have to say as a fellow Cuban cheerleading Coach Orby makes my heart smile :)

The thing about AwesomenessTV following another gym or team outside of California All Stars is that AwesomenessTV's headquarters is in Cali. So I guess thats why they only follow Smoed, but I do think they should show another team from the Ventura gym.

There are literally HUNDREDS of excellent gyms in SoCal... As much as I LOVE watching SMOED it would be nice to see socal all star cheer from another gyms perspective... (perhaps a smaller gym)

It's very frustrating to see a new episode has been posted only to have it say private. I don't get why it can be viewed for a short time on Saturday only to be made private later that night but then available again on Sunday.:confused: Sorry, maybe I'm just in a bad mood lol

Can we stop discussing, who "was first"? It's happening. Like it or not.

As for Gabi, I wouldn't ever say "it didn't work out". It looks like it worked out perfectly fine for her at the time. Now something else is her priority. Live changes and we change. Doesn't mean the past was wrong.

I definitely agree that this not an uncommon thing for other sports, particularly, gymnastics and figure skaters to move away and live far from parents, family and live with host families, but I think for cheerleading this is and was a new thing, primarily because this AS cheerleading is not considered a sport outside of our circles and there is not a tangible rewards beyond Worlds...

Yes, Gabi, Marci (CEA) and Angel were all going to be housed with one of the girl on the team name Kendra this upcoming season. Which probably led Gabi to feel even more alone and homesick, if she felt overwhelmed with her Mom in Cali, I can only imagine what anxiety she was feeling...
I'm a former figure skater and I spent years "away" from my family. My parents couldn't afford to see my compete for the majority of my competitions as many were out of the country. Although I longed for "family life" I was accustomed to "host families". But this wasn't uncommon back then. I could never send my CP's of without me and I totally understand what it is to be ambitious and so forth. I agree with u when u say it's new to cheerleading.
I hate comparing "sports" and I'm probably very lucky that none of my CP's ever expressed any interest in skating. But the pressure that was on us back then was much different than what my CP's have ever went thru. There were times that I "stayed with a family" that did not speak English. I couldn't just "call" my mom or dad. The hours I (we) practiced were beyond what I even would deem acceptable for my child's now.
I hope Gabby enjoys her time with her family. I missed so many years that can never be made up!

Teachers with bad grammar are the bane of my existence. I don't know of much that annoys me more.
I totally get it. Ive been known to consistently ride a teacher with written communication that looks very much like what I'm seeing here. There's just no excuse for that, as a teacher it sends the wrong message to your families about your competence whether that's a valid message or not. Perception is reality. Fair or unfair it's just truth.

I am a teacher. My grammar is far from perfect. When I was in first grade they said I was LD / had a learning disability. I had some great teachers come along who believed in me. That inspired me to become a teacher and help other students who might have similar challenges. I started off teaching Special Education. I now teach Deaf Education. When I am at work I work extra hard to do my very best. I check and double check everything that I write. When I am on fb / social media I relax and have fun.

do public schools even teach grammar anymore? i went to a catholic k-8th school and was taught english grammar 3rd-8th grade. I grew to know the hell that was dissecting sentences into its grammatical parts starting in 6th grade. this has never seemed to have been the case for friends that went to a public school.

I had to diagram many sentences and I went to public school. My kids attend public school (except one) and they have had to diagram also.

I get beyond irritated when I see people, especially adults, use text speak all over the place.
