Why hello there Norah Flatley Instagram

I used to think the kiddos turning senior-age eligible in an olympic year won the birth lottery and were so lucky... this year I am wishing Laurie, Jazmyn, and Norah could stay little one or two more years because we have too many amazing gymnasts. If they're lucky, there is room for one of them on the olympic team, if that.

If I were them I'd be filing for citizenship in another country right about now...

I wish more than anything they would go back to the seven member format. But they seem to be moving in the opposite direction, only four in 2020. Ugh.

I think Grishina was practically retired anyway. The quote about Nabiyeva - ouch. I'd be pissed if I were her.
Reading the comments and A- seems like she is and B- she hasn't retired (Nabiyeva). I feel for all the young girls aging up now. It's hard enough on the US team as is!

Valentina Rodionenko is such a nasty person-ugh!
As much as I love Russian gymnastics, I'm not a fan of the Rodionenkos... they love making statements on behalf of their gymnast even before the gymnast themselves have said anything - e.g. Mustafina returning to training only shortly after a pretty major surgery on her knee, Nabiyeva's retirement etc.

That's going to be tough on the gymnasts. Each gymnast will have to compete on each apparatus right? So, no more room for a gymnast who is a specialist?

I think 5 is good, with 7 it's like you hardly have to be good at anything (only one apparatus), but it's good if there can be one specialist.

Yep. They are changing the format to four up three count, which I like...with five gymnasts or more. Four on the team and four up takes away the strategy of who goes on what event, etc. Specialists are all but eliminated from the team event, but they can still qualify as individuals, I believe.

Countries can bring six gymnasts now. Four on the team and two specialists. I think it'll be good because it will allow more athletes to compete on their best events and potentially earn medals. Not the biggest fan of only having four on the team though so it'll be interesting to see how it works out
