You might be a crazy cheer mom if you move to an area with no competitive cheer and spend a lot of time and money traveling to USASF Regional Meetings, getting credentialed, background checked and all the fun stuff that goes with opening a business so your CP can continue with the sport that has always been there for her through 5 interstate moves in 8 years. It helps I have a background in gymnastics and coached before getting pregnant with the CP.

WOW!!! That's dedication and love for the sport!

Only crazy if you insist your CP be point flyer in spite of her being a foot taller and 30 pounds heavier than every other girl on her team. Another sign of craziness is forcing a team to be level 5 cause your CP has a full when everyone else has janky archy layouts and inconsistent standing tucks at best ;). Haha...

It's been the one thing that no matter where or when we moved, she had a place to be accepted, a "job" to do and make friends. Being a military brat, it isn't always easy to move to an area not knowing anyone. She was also painfully shy when she was younger. She's starting to be more social and outgoing now, which is another good thing. Cheer has a lot of good things to offer kids on the move.

She is working tucks and RO tucks, but we're a level 2 prep and she is a base/back spot. She is last pass, though! ;)

Which, before someone says I'm mean, is okay if you are in the learning phase.

The thing is, no one on (for example) a Worlds team should be competing a whip to anything if it is indeed, actually a WhipOut.

What's the difference between a whip and a layout?

A layout involves a high set and then a straight/planked body the whole time in the air. A whip is basically a backhandspring w/ no hands - much lower to the ground, noticeable arch on the way back and a snap in the middle. A good layout has no arch and a chest-up landing w/ only a very tiny pike at the very end - only w/ extreme height though can there be no pike at all - like Simone biles probably doesn't pike her floor layouts ;).
