I don't mean this for the girls in the picture at all because they are beautiful so please don't take it the wrong way. But how do people think this hair style looks good? A little tease is fine but this is waaaaaaaay too much. You're hair should not be higher than your bow imo.

I think cheer coaches in general are absolutely ridiculous when it comes to the hair thing. Secure your hair out of your face. There's no reason for all this other pomp and circumstance. If your fake hair changes the score of your routine so much that it affects the outcome of the competition, you're attending joke of a competition anyway. I feel the same way about makeup. Unless they're highlighting their teeth so that the judges can see them smile, just look freakin natural. I see teams walking around cheer competitions with eye liner and other stuff caked on like bargain-basement street-walkers. I just roll my eyes, because I know their skills are just as fake as their appearance.

Some gyms do high teased pony. Some do pouf. Some do curls. Some do half up, half down. Some do braid and pony. Lots of girls do the high teased pony and pride themselves on how high they can tease it. Cheer hair is no different than hair through the decades. Remember the 80s? High big hair. 50s? Bouffant precursor to high teased and poufs of today. Its a fad and one day may pass out of style. Or may get even higher. It's all good.
Idk, I guess I would just want my hair to look cute when I'm competing. Not some crazy high teased mess on top of my head that looks ridiculous 99% of the time.

Do you think that the big teased pony is on its way out of style? My daughter used to love the massive teased look, but she wants no part of it anymore. Her gym isn't specific about their hair...it just needs to be in a high pony if it's longer than shoulder length. The rest is up to the athlete. (No pouf, I think...but those seem done, anyway)

Cp's team does the high teased pony. At the last comp on day 2 her pony was teased so high that when she asked I actually told her it looked too big (and of course insulted her; I should've kept my mouth shut until after she competed lol).

I just showed her the LoT pix and told her they were hairpieces. Her response was "Can I get one?"

They're still everywhere on the east coast. I'm just hoping we will see the end of it after this season.

You know we're so fashion forward in the PNW. [emoji23] We still see them, for sure...but it seems like some kids are over it. Like, I think my daughter could use some more teasing...but she's 15 and my advice is all bad, apparently. [emoji23]

Please. You guys brought us grunge. That gives you a pass for the next 20 years :D.

We're not going for the "higher the hair the closer to Jesus" look. CP has thin hair and without volume her bow lays like a limp pancake, flopping in the wind. I don't want to tease her hair anymore to keep the bow up. It's thin, and fine and breaks easily. This ponytail will help keep the bow up and save her hair. A ponytail will always be in style...the height will just change.

As for makeup and such, it's all stage makeup. Anybody who thinks this is a daytime/nighttime look is delusional. Up close the makeup is inline with Mimi from Drew Carey, and not the least bit attractive but helps under stage lighting (hence the stage makeup). Everybody is entitled to their opinion but the moment you start a paragraph with "I don't mean this" and "please don't take it the wrong way" you've just shown your true intent with the comment, and offence is intended. ;) Who cares if it's high. It's just hair and a trending fad. Something else will come out in no time.

Lol. I got you a coupon code :) I'm glad the pouf went away tho.

Here's a few photos of my cp (and her friends) wearing it. It's a sewn and pre-teased ponytail that gets attached to a bun.

Side note that your CP and friends are gorgeous!!

There is always at least one one parent who is outside the gym area the day of tryouts having their kid practice the dance and/or cheer 4 times in the parking lot 10 minutes before the doors open (and critiquing everything.)

I don't think you're crazy, but 10 minutes before a tryout is probably not the best time for "let's critique everything." If your kid doesn't know it by then, no amount of parental parking lot coaching is going to get her top scores on it. You should probably be spending that time encouraging her and helping her to stay calm mentally.

See also: critiquing jumps in the parking lot. Stop.

"parking lot coaching" is my new favorite word [emoji1360]

If you can't see your hair over your bow, you're not doing it right.

Frankly, I don't care if you think my daughter looks like a hooker. She isn't doing her hair and make up for you. She feels great and is confident (with or without all the hair and make up, she oozes confidence) and more importantly, she looks like the rest of the girls on stage with her. There is something to be said for uniformity, even if you don't like the uniform look. This isn't HS cheer and it shouldn't look like it.

By the way, her skills slay - with or without the hair and make up, so your little comment about being fake is completely unnecessary.
