I don't see that happening anytime soon. We've already tried that (majors, champs league) and all it did was add another competition for these athletes.
Maybe no time soon but eventually worlds will become just another Disney comp, especially with the addition of summit. Some of these Youth 5 kids will end over 10 seasons at Disney over their cheer career.

Agreed. To me, the only thing "prestigious" about worlds is that it's name is "world championships" and it's possibly the only competition that everyone in your division goes to.

I find NCA to be an all-around more prestigious competition, but the kids currently cheering seem to think differently. It's like they can have a phenomenal season, win NCA/Cheersport/Majors/CL but if they don't win worlds none of that matters. I hate that mindset, because worlds isn't even that great of a competition.

Are you thinking that because Disney will be so routine that teams will just forgo Worlds because it's nothing special? Or that teams who aren't really in the running just won't go because it isn't the once in a lifetime experience it once was?

I feel like it just goes the other way around, where ending at Disney just becomes the tradition. But if I were UCA, I'd probably be looking for another venue.

@MomMomMamaMom I think coaches, and athletes are no longer going to be excited for the comp because it has become just another Disney comp. The locale of Worlds is a major factor to it's prestige, and when athletes lose that sense of excitement for Disney it makes it easier for another event to swoop in and take its place.

Supply and demand. There are far more small senior and small coed teams than any of the other divisions. I do wish they would be more equitable and give the International divisions more of an opportunity to get bids, but I don't see the small division getting more bids on average than the other senior divisions.
I have no problem with the number of bids given. I think for the past few years the truly tragic, scary teams are few and far between. The preliminary division was a great decision by USASF. You give teams who may not be as competitive the opportunity to compete and gain experience on an entirely separate day without interfering with the more competitive teams.
yeah, as the season was going on, i was so scared that OO5 might not have received a bid. (then they got that FP and i got ratchet for them). but i noticed that there's only one L6 team that has an FP and that's not cool. that division is brilliant. idk, EPs and USASF need to stop being stingy towards the IO divisions lol.
and yeah i understand the preliminary round thing you're speaking about. thanks for the perspective.

ehhh... i doubt worlds will get left in the dust. think about it, all over social media, you'll see worlds pictures, the pictures in front of buildings at disney, the crazy stunting, i definitely think it's more of a tradition, but i doubt people will be like "oh nvm, it's just worlds, nothing major".... it's something that's as big as the superbowl (to cheerleaders at least), you never know the turn out, and it's traditional that everyone (even if you team isn't playing) to have a party lol
i have a question... are you really a world champion if you're not in the International division?

I think it'll be a good 5 or more seasons before we really see the effects the Summit has on the viewpoint of World's.

Yes. International teams are free to enter the senior divisions.
Yes, but it's a lot more that goes into competing at Worlds for an international team. If your team doesn't have several bid comps (I think only USA, Canada, UK, Australia and Germany have, maybe a few more) your country have a set number of bids. Often only 8 bids or so, and they are only for the international open divisions. I'm not sure how the number of bids is determined, but I think it's some kind of collaboration between IASF and the country's cheerleading federation. You can't just compete in a senior division, even if you like to, if your country doesn't have a bid for that.

And we will also have to see how the increased number of Summit bids from Jam comps starting next season will play out as well. I expect it will water down the quality of that competition as well.
