All-Star Highlight Stunts

Last year at this time the highlight stunt was basically a switch up at Jamfest. It will change as much this year. I'm sure there are groups everywhere that can do highlight stunts as good or better. No gym or flyer has a corner on the market. However, I think the more important question is how is this changing Level 5 Cheerleading? For over a decade, tumbling has been the driver of routines, and to my way of thinking, remains the core. But the stunting and building skills may be more of the future of cheer innovation. Things are changing fast, and a ball up 360 will not ever have the effect it had last a few short months ago. Look, teams are moving towards full squad running doubles, standing to double and standing fulls. It will be the norm very soon to have a majority of kids throwing these skills on every team in these routines. And it will be fun to watch, but there are just so many variations of tumbling skills. Yes tumbling will remain the technical base of a routine, but the "newness" is going to max out sooner rather than later. Depending on the rules, stunting and building has an infinite variety of possible skills and expression of team and gym philosophy. I think given the fact that the tumbling will have to be there, the stunts and pyramids will rule innovation the next few years. So get used to harder and more inspiring stunts from everyone. And factor in that the risks of a flyer on 1, 2, or 3 bases is greater than just about anything else in a routine. You can't hide when you fly.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the support. Our kids have worked hard on what we consider our highlight stunt. Our highlight stunt group has been inspiration within the team for other groups to work on it (Once they hit our routine stunt consistant that is) and we have a few more groups hoping to get their stunt group doing our highlight by our next Worlds bid. I know that we will never get all 5 doing it, but three is a possibility - and two is almost definate. I will try and ask our owners if I could release it a little early. We were waiting til Jan 9th to post videos, but ill try some sweet talking! I cant wait for everyone to see it! We competed it for the first time two weeks ago at a small, local UCA Regional and it was a success!!!!

Like I said, I cant wait for you all to see it! The flyer is unreal and so natural. She makes it look effortless, and the bases are just so dedicated to never letting it come down!

Is there a video of Platinum somewhere?

Hey Guys,

Kyle worked his magic and here is the link to Platinum's old highlight stunt.

UGH! Wish we could post our new one - But THANK YOU ADAM for allowing this! This was definately our progressional skill for our true one. If anyone has any positive criteques - would love to hear them. I know our bases moved a lot, the flyer's toe is flexed in her opposite stretch, and her leg wasnt locked in this particular video - but all have since been fixed - if there is anything I am missing (specifically execution speaking) - Please share in a message with me. I cant wait until later in January so we can post our full out version of this stunt!

PS - If you cant tell from after they cradle.... This was a video of them hitting the stunt for the first time ever completely pieced together a few months ago!

OMFG... i cant wait for the NEW stunt to be higligthed at a comp and it sticks.. everyone will scream their butts off

I enjoy the kids excitement about hitting the stunt more than the actual stunt! It is so nice to see kids that are genuinely excited about what they are doing. Nice Job.

my favorite part of that video is the group completely losing it after the double down. :D

seriously though, great stunt...can't wait to see the new one.
