it will work slightly different than the small large gym solution.

an emerging champion has the opportunity to get 1,2,3 in the world, BUT if no emerging champion country gets those top three spots they can then earn 1, 2, 3 in the emerging champion division.

Globes for actual top 3
Plaques for top 3 Emerging/Small/International teams
Plaques for top 3 Emerged/Large/Worlds Team Incase the the real top three were not all from the US

Here's my post from the small gym thread. Which would apply well for countries as well

I would set it up with the small gym high point winner and Large gym High point winner and have results color coded in order such as:

1. Small Town Allstars - Small Gym High Point Winners
2. Main Street Maulers
3. Big City Bikers - Large Gym High Point Winners
4. Podunk Pirates
5. Megatron Mollies

for awards announcements I'd say and coming in 3rd place...... and our LARGE GYM HIGH POINT WINNERS.... The Big City Bikers!!!!!!!! and give them a placement Trophy and a gym size high point plaque

there isn't 2 firsts, varying sized gyms are recognized while still competing and being ranked on the basis of their performance rather than the number of kids within in a gym.

for as much money as they spend to come here giving them a globe as an emerging champion doesnt bother me.

definitely still something nice, but something that is different from the actual 1-3 award

To whom it may concern at the USASF,

The International Divisions at the Cheerleading Worlds (Worlds) is a wonderful division that has been long meeting the needs of two specific groups of individuals: those from another country and those that age out of the club divisions. While both giving the opportunity for teams from other countries to have their own division to meet their own specific skill set and allowing US kids who have aged out to keep performing the sport that they love there has been challenges with the current model that exists. To make International teams feel like they have a chance at a feeling of accomplishment there has been a limit on the number of US teams allowed to get to finals as well as an scoresheet that emphasizes building over tumbling. This puts the International teams at odds with the US teams because the US teams believe with the growing popularity of this division (in most US teams eyes this is more viewed as just an Open division) more of them should proceed to finals as well as have a balanced score sheet that reflects what their many years of training, money, and dedication has taught them. I believe through discussion on the Fierce Board we may have come across an answer that not only meets the needs of everyone without hurting each side, but also increases the interest in participating in these divisions.

It would say Emerging Champion. No gym in the US would ever have one.

Whenever you compare other countries to the US in cheerleading it is generally thought of if they are emerging in this sport as being competitive. Therefore I present there are two categories at Worlds in the International Division. There are World Champions and Emerging Champions. Any country that has at less than 25 teams participating in Worlds would be considered an Emerging Country in cheerleading. This term shows respect to the efforts of countries trying to build their cheerleading tradition, but allows us to classify them correctly for our next piece.

In each International division there would be two types of awards given. There will always be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Worlds globe given to the top 3 scores in each division. The next Globes given would be for the Emerging World Champions. For each of the top 3 places (1st, 2nd, and 3rd World Champions) that is not awarded to an Emerging Countries team there will be an Emerging World Champion award given out. If none of the top spots are given out to Emerging countries, then 3 Emerging Champion trophies are given out. If 2 Emerging countries take two of the top three spots then only one emerging champion trophy will be given out.

(explanation of benefits next... feel free to copy, edit, and paste in this thread)

This new way of rewarding teams will allow a couple positive changes to the division.

First - The division will be allowed to take the top 50% (or more) from all countries that are not emerging (ie the US). This would follow suit with all the club divisions and seems fair and equitable to those most familiar with club divisions at worlds. All emerging countries could take the top 75% from each country. This would mean if three teams were entered than those three would make finals. If four teams entered from a singular country, only the top 3 would make it. This obviously could be adjusted as needed.

Second - International teams will get to compete against the US teams, but still feel like that have a shot at accomplishment. It is not an unknown fact that the US has most of the top talent in the world for cheerleading. International teams want to compete against these teams but don't want to feel like they have no chance. In reality this new system lets them see how well they would fair against the US, mostly compete with their Emerging Country counterparts, and take a no risk shot at beating a US team.

Third - The scoresheets for level 5 could be returned back to the normal and balanced scoresheet that all the other divisions in club so enjoy. This does two things: Allow the US teams to use those skills they have spent years and money getting to the fullest of their ability and also encourage international countries to get better at tumbling and jumping. Tumbling is the foundation of all the All Star gyms in the US. If we do not encourage tumbling in other countries we cannot expect All Star to take off there as it has here.

(closing is next... unless I missed something)

In closing, I hope you read this suggestion and know the community (US based and worldwide) highly enjoy this solution. In fact, from what we have studied, this suggestion could actually be legally employed this year. The US teams will be satisfied, the International teams will be satisfied, and the USASF wins because they will have helped build a divisions to further encourage people to join and stay in All Star cheer longer.

Thanks for your time.

please double check my writing for typos, miscommunications, and other stuff I did not do well.

Everything looks great to me!!!I LOVE this idea and hope it comes into play this year. I think it would really boost participation of teams from other countries and make it more of the "true" worlds championship that many on this board complain about.....

Not to be a whiner, but, I'm not a fan of the term Emerging Champion. It sounds a little too patronizing. not sure what my solution is though. You know the saying "a complaint without a solution is just b--ching"

Suit, not suite in your "first" point.

Second, I don't think they could (or should) change the L5 scoresheets for those divisions at this point. As much as we complained about the late release the first time, this would be even later.

Scoresheets can change for next year (thats what I had in my head). Maybe should add that.

I would just like the awards for Emerging champion to be given out and more teams go to finals this year.
