Hmmmm. Gee, thanks cupieqt I'm so glad you pointed me in the direction of this thread. -__-

Here's what I have to say:
1. I am still going through what I refer to as "the longest breakup in the history of breakups" - at this point I do believe it's longer than the actual relationship (or each of them as the case may be, since we've tried about 12 times over the last 24 years). So I like the song - it fits perfectly with how silly and ridiculous I think my life is right now. It makes me laugh, which is not something I've done a lot of over the last year. It's cute and silly, and I don't think it was intended to be some kind of epic, forever remembered anthem or anything. (And I'm no Taylor Swift fan, trust me. I guess there's always something for everyone though)

2. I was waaaaaaay alive in the 80s (as a matter of fact that's when the aforementioned original breakup started for the first time).

3. There is a way to voice your opinion without being so Judgy McJudgerson about it. You can say your opinion without saying/implying that people that don't share it are inferior to you.

4. Lastly...I leave you with this, as I must return to celebrating my birthday (go me!) with my children in my "non cheer" life:

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I'll just do what I do (and will continue to do) when I see a post from you:
YAYYYYY YOU'RE BACK!

Also, sorry about the hot rhymes up there, but I'm working to become the next "no-talent" pop star that sings, plays guitar, entertains the crowd, and writes their own songs.

I can't speak for most of the un-talented artists on the radio nowadays, but I would like to share a little-known fact about Taylor Swift.

The ONLY reason she's successful is because of her looks. That's about all. In fact, she wouldn't be known at all if it wasn't for her filthy-rich father giving some record company $3 million and asking them to make his daughter a star. I'm not kidding. They spent 3 months auto-tuning her voice in the studio, then they gave her a record contract.

Think about this: If she was 50 pounds heavier, had short brown hair, and wore glasses, do you think for one minute that she would be as popular as she is today? People would be saying "Taylor, Who??"
Go away.

OK, here are a some of my favorite country artists:

Janie Fricke
Johnny Lee
Kenny Rogers
Don Williams
Gene Watson
Conway Twitty *
Emmylou Harris
Dan Seals *
Kathy Mattea
Tanya Tucker
Forester Sisters
Statler Brothers
Oak Ridge Boys
Alabama
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Highway 101
Desert Rose Band

That's as many I can think of off-hand in the 5 minutes I spent on this message.
* = dead. They would flip over in their grave if they knew what the country music industry has become today and heard the music they call country.

Let me explain myself here: I realize that none of us were around back in the 80's when country music was country, and when you actually needed REAL talent to get a recording contract, when the music came from the heart, and when it didn't matter what you looked like. Now take a good look at the music industry today. With all the computers and newfangled equipment they have nowadays, ANYONE can be made to sound "good" on a recording. They can turn a lousy singer into a marketable product. This is what the music industry is after today. They go for young people, mostly young women and teen girls who would be considered "hot looking", because that's what the mainstream public wants. All of my favorite country artists were in their 30's, 40's, and 50's at the time when they were recording all of my favorite songs (back in the 80's). Today, there are very few recording artists that old. But they all wrote meaningful songs and sung about real-life experiences -- not some spoiled, immature, sheltered teenybopper writing lame songs about boys not liking her, getting revenge on boys who dump her, and all that other garbage that would appeal to middle-school girls. She's 22 going on 13.

By the way, I am not jealous of her looks, because it's all fake. Without all the makeup they put on her, I think she looks awful, to be honest.

And since none of us were around in the 80's, we have nothing to compare the music to that we call "country" today, because hardly any of us have ever heard real country music or know what it is or is supposed to sound like.

So I'm not just bashing Taylor Swift, I'm mainly bashing the music industry today. It really makes me sick to think about what has become of it. It's all about money and greed anymore. Many of the so-called "artists" today are getting paid more in a year than many of the artists 30 years ago made in their entire careers. And that is really a shame.
I'm sorry but did you just use the word newfangled....?

Leaira Hi, ok so I just have a few points to make about how much you don't know about what your talking about, in regards to your "knowledge" of Taylor Swift and The Music Industry.
A, Scott Borchetta, signed taylor to his label big machine records, which at the time had absolutely no funds, except what Scotty had in his personal bank account from, all his years working for RCA records, notice I called him "Scotty" I can do that because I know him personally mostly because I live across the street from big machine records on music row...and I can defiantly say that there was no 3 million dollar record contract paid to big machine records for her first album to be produced, Scotty found taylor at one of her performances at The Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville, so yeah you're pretty wrong

B, No one uses auto tune in Nashville anymore, seriously...I'm an audio engineer major in Nashville, and I work in some of the studios that producer Taylors stuff, the effects on her voice are a lot less complex than everyone thinks, yes there are pitch corrections on her voice, and she may not be the best singer in the world and she knows that and everyone knows that, but do not criticize the work that all the engineers and producers put into her albums because "you think" you have any clue about what your talking about because you don't.

C, And don't think I don't know anything about music, I can basically give you a detailed recollection of the whole history of country music, along with classical, and essentially any other genre for that matter.

D, Bye run along. trollol
