Nobody will be surprised to hear she's the dramatic one. LMAO

I have a drama queen myself. Your shoe story reminds me of a shoe debacle we had over the summer.

Lil red has always had shoe issues. She has hobbit feet. Not wide, but thick. Basically a pain in the butt. So when she came to me moaning about her toes at practice, I sent her packing. She is known for shoes coming off on the floor, hiding her shoes under the spring floor, etc because she wants to tumble barefoot.

Next practice, she comes complaining again. She just can't take it anymore. So off come the shoes. Toes might be a little red, ok I guess we have outgrown this $90 pair of shoes in 3 months. Great.

So I hustle to the dance shoe store that carries cheer shoes... it's an hour away. Get feet sized, deal with snarky looks from the ballet moms blah blah blah. Another $90 and we have a shiny new pair of cheer shoes.

She wears then to camp the following Monday. Seeing how the old shoes were only 3 months old, I go to sell them.

Guess what size they are?? Same size as the brand new ones I was just suckered into! ROTTEN little girl!!

The woman at the gate could have cared less - she was getting paid no matter. You said she belong in that is all that she needed to hear. Have not had to do this one ... only because all my kids cheer. But if they had different comps - I now know what I am doing time to done the warmups and cheer bows and show that spirit and save mommy some money somewhere as cheer takes most of mine :)

Ha! Yes, the lady probably didn't care, but guilt took over! Also, I wasn't sure because the week before that in Philadephia, I was holding a bottle of water because we were putting her makeup bag back in the cheer bag and I forgot to put the water back in the bag! Well, one of the workers pulled me out of the line to tell me I couldn't bring it in. I mean they called me out, LOUDLY! I told them it was for my CP and that she was an athlete, blah, blah, blah. They said, NO! So I threw it away. I was really pissed because later I see people coming in with Philly cheesesteaks, Subways, etc.

Now that time I wasn't trying to sneak anything in...however I have since learned how to bring a cheer backpack filled with my daily goodies, including my Dunkin Dunuts coffee (which is why I'm walking so straight, as not spill my coffee!) It's war out there...Cheer War and it is a very expensive battle!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA.....She got ya on that one. That's a good story!

This is a hard confession and as I am reading it, I realize how very sad this is...

I send a friendly e-mail to the EP asking for the competition results of the previous year in anticipation of who might return the current year. (If the results are no longer online.) They usually send it right away and then I go straight to youtube and start a-searchin! If there are no videos on youtube, I go to their website to see if they list their weekly results, nationals, Worlds, etc...just to get a feel.

If they EP doesn't post the preliminary schedule the nano second they advertise them to be available, I send them another friendly e-mail asking when the schedules will be posted. They either tell me when it will be available or e-mail me one just before they post it. Luckily they are all very nice people.

I then save the schedule to Acrobat, put read boxes around our divisions, highlight all of our teams in one color and opposing teams in yellow, then print out the schedule on oversized (11 x 17) paper so I can see in the dark and without my reading classes. I can't with those little schedules they give you at the comp, even with my reading glasses.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I love you!!

I absolutely love this thread!!

Besides being a coach, I'm a cheer mom too and my confession is that I have kept my CP home from school if she's not feeling well to make sure she's okay for practice that night.

hahahaha. me too! and if she misses school because she isn't feeling well she will still go to practice. unless of course she is dying...

I have a CP with major food allergies and I have gone so far as to call the facility a week ahead (just once on one where I warned that a certain venue was super strict) and have staff in charge that day meet me at the door to make sure staff are aware that I am allowed to bring in food and drink. Luckily food allergies are included in the United States ADA as a disability so public arenas and venues must be in compliance - very rarely that includes me reminding staff of that - always nicely.

I'm not over the cheer comps yet. I still enjoy them. I am currently doing time while CP participates in the regional Nutracker. Two days of missed school for ballet.. Personally Id rather be at a cheer comp. atleast the music is faster. This stuff makes me want to go nap in my car. The stage moms are totally keeping track of me though.

My son (not CP) is my food allergic one. Usually pulling out the EpiPens and/or showing the medical alert bracelet makes reluctant staff much more cooperative. :)

Our teams last video I can hear me the whole time - was apparently next to the person recording (thank goodness I was all positive - even when things went bad). On someone else's video one time you could hear another mom saying things you did not want heard on the video.
I've kind of become the unofficial video person for my CP's team and the other teams at our gym for a couple of seasons now, and I feel bad that there is one video of CP's team from last season that I will never be able to post on YouTube thanks to a near tumbling collision involving my kid and my colorful language.
