thinking of the person who makes you the most angry, when stunting (as a base). there would be no stuggling getting them up then!
Tried this. Ended up punching my main base right in the nose. :wasntme:

On another note, the best advice I got is from my coach. "When you step in this gym, you're not a girl. You're not a boy. You're an athlete. You're not even a human. You're a machine. People always let their minds control what they do when they tumble. When you get tired, physically or emotionally, remember that it isn't your legs giving up, or your abs, or your arms. It's your mind."

My new favorite quote! That is such a good one!

My entire life was just altered by this
Glad I could help LOL
Today I got a Snickerdoodle and my friend got cinnamon roll and the kids are still all stuck on cotton candy lol Next time I may try cake batter or cinnamon toast crunch.....

Sometimes it takes trying and failing 1000 times to get a new skill, but each attempt is one time closer to landing it. @misstealtoyou (she really is one of the smartest cheer moms I know)

To be fair I stole that from CSP..........LMAO

I used to struggle with tumbling a lot. I had very little power and everything was very slow and labored. One of my coaches one day stopped me and showed me the proper way to block through my shoulders in handsprings to get an extra push that I was missing. I started throwing them with an extra "shrug" and they were much more powerful. I never really understood what coaches meant by pushing through your shoulders until someone took the time to stop and show me.

Another coach took time to explain how to rotate your hips under to my team when we were working on jumps. Once I understood that my jumps got much better.

Long story short, take the time to explain to your kids what you actually mean and show them how it's done and they will understand much better than you just repeating the same things over and over.

Also, to help with nose diving flyers learning doubles, tell them to consider it more of a "double up" instead of a "double down". You should pull up and initiate you spin while upright, and lean back only slightly. Your momentum will carry you down, so you don't need to dive for it.
