It's a shame that lower levels get the short end of the stick.

I do think we have to account for emergencies when it comes to crossovers... If a smaller gym only has 1 level 5 team, which gets a worlds bid, and one of the athletes on that team gets hurt, the gym should have the flexibility to bring up a level 4 athlete to temporarily fill her place for worlds. The level 4 athlete should then be allowed to compete with her team at the Summit.

...I can't believe we're pretty much all in agreement. And that quickly. In the summer.

    What is this tom foolery?

But yeah- my ideal world is ZERO crossovers between both (Worlds and Summit). Only 3 per gym.

I have seen a few mentions of having zero crossovers at the Summit, so let me play devil's advocate... My CP is on 2 teams. Let's say both teams earn bids. Should she have to choose one or the other? Asking because on her Junior team of 28, 23 cheer on more than 1 team and could potentially earn Summit bids.

Now, not saying at all that I agree with the practice of earning a bid and completely changing the team- that is cheating.

23 out of 28 are crossovers, isn't that why they are implementing this rule.

Not if they are cheering their appropriate level. Not talking about level 4 on a level 2. More, youth age on a junior team to learn from the experience since they will age up the next season. Or junior age on a senior team to learn from them for the upcoming seasons.

I think some of the people (including me) are just against crossovers in general. I believe at an event of this caliber, you shouldn't be able to be on more than one team. If it is trying to be a Worlds for the lower levels than I think it should follow their crossover rule and not allow any crossovers, just like it is at Worlds. Nothing is stopping someone from competing on more than one Worlds caliber team from the same gym during the season, but when they get to Worlds they must decide. IMO it should be similar at the Summit. I get what you are saying and I know there are some people that may be on more than one Summit team and it would suck to have to decide. I would be ok with 1, maybe 2 emergency crossovers allowed, because I know there are some situations where it is required (injuries, illness, etc), but no way should there be a majority of a team of crossovers at the Summit, even if it's to the same level. I would even be ok with them going with the NCA rule and only allowing 5 crossovers and only to the same level, I just hope they implement something for this year.

If we look at prestigious competitions we look at Worlds, followed by NCA Dallas. Both of these competitions have strict crossover policies. We do not hear anyone saying that the crossover regulations are unfair at these competitions. I also do not believe it hinders the amount of teams going to compete.
IMO for The Summit to be recognized as an end all competition for lower levels a much stricter crossover policy should be put in place.

I think the bottom line is, if you crossover it can only be 1 level up or down. The main problem which is unfair is being able to crossover from say a 2 to a 5. That is where a rule change is needed.

I hate to say it, but 23 kids crossing over seems that they are trying to please everyone. That is a lot whether age appropriate or not. IMO, that is a whole team plus 3. Seems excessive.

I don't have a problem with level to level crossovers. Its not like its a different skill set. Now crossing levels bothers me as that skill set is different.

Lets split all comps D1&D2. D1 ONLY crossover within level D2 as many chaotic crazy crossovers as you want? As I've said many times I hate ANY crossovers but I'm also not foolish enough to think they will all disappear. To allow crossovers from Worlds to the Summit is STUPID and I think a WEAK move. It's not an attempt at anything! It's a full stunt group +1! It's a boom boom move to keep people happy not what's best for the industry. Again it's WEAK!!!!
