My son goes to a well known university soccer camp. They bring in a nutritionist to speak to the boys about how to prepare for practices and games. Obviously they stress no caffeine/energy drinks. They do tell the kids a good, quick energy snack is pop tarts! They said eating one pop tart will provide enough sugar for their workout without any potential harm. They also recommend not drinking milk before a workout, but a glass of chocolate milk after a workout helps the body recover faster.
Chocolate milk is absolutely the best recovery drink. I swear by it for after long runs.

I've never done it in my life and never will. I just stick to the UK version of Gatorade which is Lucozade Sport or just water. I just remember one year at a competition there was a girl who had red bull before going on stage and during a back tuck she spewed and there was orangey/green sick all over the mat, put me off the stuff for life!

I wonder what happens if a person combines an energy drink (stimulant) with alcohol (depressant).

It can't be anything good. And I'm sure it's been done before.

I've had what I believe was called an "Irish trash can" before. I know it had red bull in it and I think the alcohol was a Long Island ice tea but I could be wrong. And Vegas bomb shots have red bull in them. I know there's more but I'm a bad 21 year old so I'm not well versed in anything more than basic alcoholic drinks haha.

My best friend works at a bar so I always go there when she's working cause I know I wont have to fight for service and when I get there I'll find her and she just asks if I want my usual. Thats how predictable I am. Like one time I didn't even talk to her since I had to go to the bathroom right away and when I got out she had one already put in for me.

Jägerbombs. And no, nothing good comes from those. (When you drink more than two of them, anyway.)

What ever happened to simply enjoying alcohol? Isn't that why breweries/wineries/distilleries pour so much time, love and passion into crafting the perfect glass of their type of alcohol? I will never understand what people get out of getting themselves blackout drunk. Especially weekend after weekend. Experienced drinkers have no excuse to be constantly exceeding their limit like that.

Is that your advice for the kids? Just simply enjoy the alcohol?

My old roomie and I used to be regulars at a restaurant and we always requested the same waiter. He never had to ask for our drink order because we always ordered the same thing. I always got a Long Island (with sprite instead of coke) and she always got a raspberry Long Island (or something like that). I miss it haha

Im always worried about ordering something new in case I don't like it and then it's wasted money so thats another reason I always order the same things when I do go out. Maybe next time I do I'll tell my friend to surprise me haha

Haha I do the same thing! Alcohol is expensive and I can't imagine spending $8+ on a couple ounces of something I might not like.
