All-Star What Questions Do You Want Answered About Worlds?

I know this specifically refers to Bangkok, but how in the world can you TIE a team with <50% + 1 in tumbling and less than stellar stunting? There were teams that did better than another with a dropped stunt, bobble, etc., due to the fact that they had more difficulty in their stunt sequences or squad tucks or 'mass' synchro tumbling, as well as kick-A tumbling. What is USASF's reasoning behind the insanely high scoring for an obvious sub-par performance in tumbling and stunting? I mean, come on....the teams that scored below them had incredible difficultly in stunting and tumbling. Maybe not as much in the pyramid, but the pyramid is only ONE section of the scoresheet.

I'm sure there is a much better way to ask that question?

I believe standard protocol is to look at these sheets about two weeks before the event. They are not used anywhere else so most judges would have to wait until they are done judging other events.

I know Sprit Fest Nationals used them for all Worlds divisions at their bid event. I wish more EP's would do this. It benefits both the team/coaches as well as the judges.

Why have they let the underage drinking continue when they know its there? What are they going to do to stop it? Will they punish big named gyms as fast as small ones? I fear that as they address the issues that mainly center around the block party, they will be faster to punish a gym that does not have a well known name than a larger, world champion gym. (NOT saying any world champion gym has taken part in such activities! just the general idea of a well known gym)

I get that there were issues with drinking, but I feel like this is a gym issue. I understand that there needs to be people at the events monitoring to the best of their abilities, but USASF shouldn't be considered babysitters.

Are you joking?

At what point would you suppose they were trained on this scoresheet?

I didn't say I knew when they did. "wait until Worlds" insinuates they didn't get trained until they got there. @kingston presumes a reasonable timeframe, but I haven't seen from anyone in any post when they actually did get trained on the scoresheet which has been avaialable since November. I am not making any assumptions about information I don't know.

So back to the point. What is your specific question? Are you asking when they actually got trained or do you know, and you don't think that's long enough?

Honestly, I think it's both a gym and a USASF issue. They are representing their gyms in a drunken (and most cases underage) state. That's issue #1. They are in this state at a USASF sponsored event. That's issue #2. If anyone was hurt during this, USASF, the gym and Disney are at fault. The blame doesn't get shouldered by any one entity. It's all their issue, and something needs to happen about it. I get that these are things that teenagers do. I really do. That doesn't make it ok or acceptable however. Action needs to be taken by both the USASF and the gyms. Gyms needs to make sure their athletes are not bringing alcohol down there, nor are they drinking while representing them. The USASF needs to control the situation better. If that means no more block party, than that's how it needs to be.

Do you think that the coaches VIP event as well as the Casino party conflict with this? What I mean is that if the USASF or whoever hosts the Sunday evening event expect coaches to attend who do they expect to be watching over the kids!? I get that gyms should take the responsibility of assigning an adult or other coach to supervise these kids, but I find it somewhat contradictory that they pull the coaches away from the kids and then expect them to be supervised. Again, I DO feel that regardless the kids should be supervised, just always baffled me that people want them to be supervised yet coaches are constantly pulled away. Just a thought.

Fair enough. Let me rephrase.
Why do we wait until the most important competition of the season for the judges to use the scoresheet for the first time.

Now, I would assume (maybe incorrectly) that there is a training session at worlds. And, this would most likely be the first time in the season where they would be able to be trained. I also assume (maybe incorrectly) that these are the top judges in the industry and have significant other judging duties prior to worlds. This would prevent these judges to be able to be trained on this system beforehand.

With all the talk and requests about limiting bids, especially in a division like small senior, what is the possibility of this happening? If not this year, next year? The year after. Im not a fan of giving bids away even though this is a big money making event. I could name a company that emailed us and said "if you come to (insert competition here) we will give your team a bid...." Thats not exactly earning it in my opinion.

Are you kidding me? I've heard of bids passing down, and down, and down, but this? That's just too much.
