Since I have promised multiple people this and never did it -

Here is a tutorial!

I'm not a person who wants to be in videos and my friend who taught me is much more the better person for the job! We had fun last season always making sure our girls hair looked just liked our coaches wanted! Which was spirit hair!
This is what works for us!

Even after a long day it usually still looked great! The bow was still sitting high and everything! The flyer and the main base are our kids!

So here it is lol

Part 1- this part will show how we start. We section the hair out that will be used for the poof and put the remaining into a high secure pony. For those that would like to use extensions for cheer hair we even show how you can put those in! If you do not need this part just skip ahead to what part you do! Just section the poof out and place the hair up before continuing!

Part 2- this part is the Poof and adding in the bow at the end! It is an easy quick way to get a nice poof!

Part 3- teasing and curling! The girl in the video has extensions in but it could be done on any hair!

ETA: and by the way if it's a 2 day comp my kid can take a bath but not a shower! I do not redo her hair I just touch it up! The NCA pic posted above was a 2 day old poof!

Since your poof hair is not added into the extensions in the same rubberband you could easily take out the poof and redo it without having to redo the extensions if she messed it up while sleeping! I just curl it and tease it a little more! Like a 15 min day 2 process!!:)

The only thing I really do different then she does is that little bit of hair left over from the poof is tucked into my kids poof I do not add it to the bow. I understand that may not work on kids with extremely long hair but I actually like mine 100% separate so I don't even have to take out the bow if I don't like the poof!

It's really not that bad lol, I'm sure I could make a tutorial on that soon!

But that mom use to work for Mac! I suck at makeup I can only do hair. She did all of my Jaylen's cheer makeup for her last year. This year we went to another look and I took to facebook to complain about my lack of skills. We were given a video to follow from our cheer makeup people but it was still way to difficult for me.

That mom said she could do the look better and easier so we made a tutorial on it also

I wanted to try to do my own for my daughter but when my own daughter asks if Teresa (the mom in the video) can do it... Because she doesn't want me doing it! Then I feel obligated!

That kid in the video has the same name as my daughter but it is spelled Jalen

And it's so funny because we both came to stars the same year, our kids have the same skills and they are the same age. So weird!

That is some serious cheer hair. We only do a straight hair high pony. So boring compared to yours! My CP was watching over my shoulder and is so jealous, she would love that look!

@Kris10boo I'm sure you've said the (actually I know you have), but where do you get the extensions? Are they something I can get from Sally's? I want to mess with my kid's hair a bit. She has a shoulder-length bob right now, but I'm wondering if she could get a competition pony again with some help.
Also try a black beauty supply store and tell them you want the one piece extensions that matches cp hair. And don't worry about looking crazy, looking for extensions for a kid;we put braids, weaves and more in our kiddos hair early! :p

That's where we got Jaylens because they have stuff for everyone! Also it's like a mom and pop type store not a big chain so we definitely paid less! Plus I got the cheapest false eyelashes I stocked up for the whole season instead of only buying them right before comp because they were so expensive the year before doing it like that!

I buy a lot of my cp's stuff from black beauty supplies for competitions, just because it cheaper. And usually the more you go and spend, they'll give you a discount!

I'm a suburban white girl and I purchased a ton of stuff at the black beauty supply stores in college. We had two down the street and everything was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than Sally's. I would get off-brand hair products for 4 or 5 bucks. Loved that place.

Haha! This made me laugh. I'll try to find one!

It's funny, because it took my white friends to introduce me to Sally's and I refuse to shop there regularly, because I know I can get stuff cheaper from the black beauty supply stores! I honestly didn't know about Sally's and other places like it existed until my husband joined the army. And my cp didn't step into her first Sally's until 3 years ago!

It's going to look like a place you want to run from (we've moved all over the country and for some reason, they all look shady;must be a requirement to own one...)but trust me,you'll get what need and get help from girls who know more about hair and make up then they should!

For those who use clip ins do you clip them in normally and then pull it up? Or do you do the natural pony and wrap the wefts are the pony?
