All-Star 2015 Worlds Packet

Worlds isn't about country-v-country. It is team-v-team or gym-v-gym. If you are into the country thing, there is a whole event designed specifically for that - ICU.

This seems like yet another rule designed to limit an athlete's option to leave a gym/team. Perhaps the countries where some of the best athletes were leaving thought this would help them keep their kids on their teams. While I understand the intentions of this rule, the unfairness and timing of it really frustrate me. Instead of relying on legislation to shield you from competition, run your business/team/practices better.

I think that this was a reaction to athletes being illegally in the US while competing with teams here. I read on the boards somewhere that last season at least 2 athletes were banned forever from the US because they didn't have the appropriate visa to cheer/compete in the US. So if this was the intent, the USASF actually did do something to protect those kids. BUT they definitely failed to acknowledge that there are gyms close to the borders that might be closer/a better fit for athletes from another country and that there are more legal possibilities to cheer/compete in the US than being a legal resident or having a student visa.

I have to agree though that the timing is really bad.

daaaaaang. While i kind of think this rule isn't insane, its kind of unfair to release the rule in the middle of the season.
I know of a lot of athletes going to canada to be on a team, and the other way around too.... this is ridiculous...

Well, you can't be in the US undocumented and illegally. That was stupid on their part. But not letting athletes come and compete without residency is dumb. I don't understand why that's even an issue. If the athlete has the proper documentation, whether it's visa or what have you, they should be able to compete.

I am hoping the athletes in the country for the 2015 season have been grandfathered in.

You can be in the US for 90 days as a tourist with just your passport depending on what country you're from. You get an automatic visa, you don't even have to apply for one. At least that's my understanding.

I apologize for the off subject question but is that really their name?

Like for real for real....I read what you said above so I know this is new to you too..but I just can't believe this name is okay with any gym ... any team .. anywhere.

Every time there is a tweet/instagram about the team they are either referred to as 'Sexy Six' or 'Sexy Sixx' so as of right now they haven't given any other hint at a different name.

I agree this rule is not very smart, however how does the girls from Viqueens, the Canadians and Dylan stay in US for a year on a tourist visa? I though that the tourist visa is only valid for 3 months?

I've done some googling but I'm not sure about this. If you're from one of 38 countries we like then you can just show up for 90 days with your passport. But you can also apply for a b-2 visitor visa for a longer visit.

Haha that's funny. I does seem weird though since the laws are so strict regarding immigration. I feel like the best way is to go on a student visa and in that case this new rule shouldn't really be a problem :p

True. But then you have to be a student. And that can be VERY expensive in the US.

Yes, you're right. I chose basically the cheapest community college haha but still I get your point. Not every area has a cheap community college.

I think it's probably a beneficial rule.......the timing stinks to high heaven. I smell a whiny baby.

As long as kids are here on the proper United States approved visa's what difference does it make which one it actually is? School, Visitor, Work, etc........who cares? Why should USASF/Varsity care?

Except when you're talking about athletes who live in states near a border. There are athletes (or were last year) who drove to Canada just for practices. You could live in northern Washington state and the nearest Worlds team would be in Vancouver, BC (I think that would be the closest, anyway).
