Wait, if you're an actual international athlete competing in IASF and ICU, you have to be there for Thursday, Friday, Sunday AND Monday, but the five night package only gives you a hopper pass valid for three days at the WWoS. How is that supposed to work?!

The USASF hates the large senior division. Of that I am certain..

The thing is, I saw the type of celebration they seem to dislike from teams ACROSS the board- including gyms who display astoundingly generous sportsmanship. Celebrating with your team has NEVER, in the history of Worlds that I'VE watched (and that's a few years shy of it's inception), been about another team, but all about how YOU as a team have done. Until I see someone finish their routine and then get back up to recreate a part of a competitor's routine where they fell, busted, or collided, I will continue to believe in its general merriment and personal joy.

Who stole the USASF's lollipop? Did somebody leave them off their Christmas gift list?

Last year, for all three days, it totaled $75, not that it's really that much of a stretch in comparison to $50, and the now $170, but hey, this partially was our idea to limit the amount of people in there.

No, I'm pretty sure most people wanted a bigger venue or did I miss something?
Also, isn't it $210? Multiply that times a family of four and you've just made World's a serious hardship on some families who have kids on world's teams.

I'm still confused as to who ever ran a "victory lap" around the floor to bring that up.. if athletes still have that kind of energy after routine, then snaps for them! And PDA on the floor, that seems ridiculously random. Can't even high five each other, like really, what is this? USASF, why you so mad?

Yeah, I didn't realize families had a separate park hopper package. I just looked at the first park hopper/commuter package. oops.

And because we know we're stuck in our venue, a lot of people have actively said the only way to lessen the audience is to raise ticket prices, as much as that sucks.

You can't even do a 5 night package. You'd really have to get there Wed an stay til Tues in order to be settled in for competition Thursday. 6 nights :-/

At this point, I think they are opening the door for another major event to step in and take over, whether it be Majors or something else. I would much rather pay $25 and go to Indy where I can see Majors AND a competition than pay for Disney and their ridiculous fees. I honestly hope people don't go. As bad as that sounds, they are driven by money, but since Worlds is the end all be all it will never happen.

In a way, I get it. At worlds, every single team collapsed on the floor hugging like they just won, even if they dropped. They spent 5 minutes after every team asking them to please leave the floor, while people rolled around crying. I understand people are excited, and I think there was a way to combat this without these ridiculous rules, but this was not exactly something I never saw coming.

The sport is growing, the fans and participants are passionate. Instead of finding a venue that can accommodate the growing sport, they are punishing the fans and athletes.

It's only going to get worse. All Star is growing by leaps and bounds, look at the numbers of younger lower level teams. Tomorrow's world's athletes are hanging tough in youth 3 and junior 4. There are so many mini and youth teams at every competition, what are they going to do in the next 3-5 years?

We always joked that if we hit we had one girl who was just going to start doing laps around the floor, we never actually did it though, it was just a joke. I guess some team actually did...

Trying to look at this from the other side of the table. I apologize in advance if it gets a bit disjointed...

Varsity/USASF is getting blasted on the regular for not being separate entities. The response is a loan that needs to be paid back, plus of course money to find a new building, separate staff, etc. Their issue as we are told is they need $$$ to pay the loan off. Our perceptions is that they should take money we already give them and pay it off. However most businesses - especially successful businesses do not do this. They raise their prices first. So this to me is sad but expected.

Worlds was utter chaos with spectators last year. The venue is too small, but there is a contract in place that they either can't or won't break. Plus the perks you can give your Varsity/USASF staff or select VIP's that you wont get moving the event to a stadium since when you book major events there is always a kickback of some type offered. Free rooms, food, etc. - unless you just don't know how to negotiate - which I doubt is the case. IDK if they could get the amount of perks anywhere else that they do at Disney.

Therefore the only ways to limit spectators to the current facility is to stop selling tickets when capacity amount have been sold - which puts a cap on earnings. Something no business really wants to do. And since not all who bought tickets would be there at the Milkhouse at all times - going to the park, having family time, etc., it still may have empty seats - something you definitely do not want especially when ESPN is taping. The other option is to raise prices. This will knock out some spectators who can not afford it or will then by economics will only be able to watch their child's team/division. Some at large teams who will not force their parents to pay that kind of money will now not accept those bids, not because they don't want to go, or don't believe they should compete, but because of way higher $$$ to attend. But that loss is made up in the higher cost charged in the new packet.

The interest is up. Even more now with the latest moves on the make cheer and Olympic sport front. (which also explains the clampdown on excessive celebrations) From a business perspective then it makes sense with all else that is on the table, to raise prices. That is what any other business would do. Now do I think it is ridiculous? Yes I do. Emotionally it is devastating but it but it is a business move. It will financially knock people from attending, which they are betting they will then buy the pay per view feed (grumbling all the way) but it is still $$$ in their pocket. They are also raising the stakes that no other company or organization can successfully challenge the World's experience. Are they wrong? We will have to stay tuned for that.

***I have never been a defender of Varsity/USASF. Nor am I defending them now. I am just trying to think it through logically not emotionally before I go any farther down the road with it.***

I guess the days of super-cute practice wear are over:( I feel like the "no celebration" rule is a direct result of one or two individuals who were ridiculously self-absorbed and completely caused a scene after their performance (and awards). I totally understand the reasoning for the rule, because I was completely disgusted with these athletes. However, it was only 1 or 2 athletes, and the rule is WAY overboard. Some of my favorite moments have been when my CP's teams have hit a performance and have pig-piled on each other. I can not even begin to imagine the feeling of hitting a routine at Worlds with your team that you have spent the last ten months with - grueling practices, highs and lows, sweat and tears. To not even be able to hug them, especially for those whose last time ever on a mat may be that performance - it's just not ok. I would hope that the powers-that-be at USASF could reconsider and revise the rule, or at the very least have them immediately leave the stage and provide a mat for them to celebrate on backstage - WITH their coaches. I get the 30 seconds to get off the mat rule but take away the "no high fives and hugging teammates" and leave the rest as guidelines. Ironically, I think the source of the problem has been eliminated anyway....
I can't even wrap my head around the cost of admission......USASF clearly thinks money (in their pocket) solves all problems. There are several options to alleviate the over-crowding and instead they just jack up the price of admission that will equate to a mortgage payment for my family to watch my CP compete. I'm wondering if I can get a job at WWOS cleaning bathrooms or something for the weekend so I can watch my kid. Shame on you USASF.
