So Braves should be banned too or just have a tight leash at spirited events?Offensive names and spirit wear are not okay, regardless of whether or not the mascot name is offensive.

I know a lot of women that could potentially be offended by that term. The schools in our district all have mascots that seem innocent enough. Then we have Braves. But, around here, for the most part, it's Eagles and Cougars, and that type.
Umm where did your post go lol. I was going to tell you I was going to pm you so you could look up something about what you wrote.
That's the wrong context in which to interpret it though. It's a cat, and the mascot is used in a context that strongly implies that the word is being used to describe a cat.I know a lot of women that could potentially be offended by that term.

I think a tight leash would be a good idea.So Braves should be banned too or just have a tight leash at spirited events?

I could, see for example, someone being offended by the CEA Raleigh Cougars (since the team is Open All-Girl 5), though I would still find that ridiculous.
Oh. Whoops! LOL.I was kidding
Sorry it's huge but I saw this on Facebook. Using ethnic groups as mascots is offensive because people will show up to games dressed like this and think it's ok because they're showing "team spirit".
Reminds me of this article. Pretty cool story.
